Within a fortnight of returning to Bangalore, I was given the opportunity to pay a fine to a traffic cop. I had made a U turn in a no U-turn sign zone, and was promptly flagged down.
The police were courteous and dint seem to want a bribe. I may have missed the signs of them asking for a bribe, but atleast it was not obvious.
I was impressed by the ticketing mechanism. The cop whipped out a blackberry, on which he took down my details, and he then proceeded to print my ticket on a small hand-held printer.....the details from the blackberry to the printer were transmitted without wires....(see the fun)
The fine was 100 Rs/-
As far as I can remember, this seems to be the only fine I have paid, that I did not feel bad about...after all seeing the wireless printer/blackberry combo in action has to cost something.
